Dr. Elizabeth Weinberg, Surgical Breast Oncologist, switches on her headlamp to prepare for a sentinel node biopsy at Wilmington SurgCare on Friday, December 6th 2024. This is her first day back at work since having her stitches removed just two days prior. She said taking the required time off for the procedure “is starting to bug me, I’d rather take time off for a family trip, not wasting it laying on the couch”.
Dr. Weinberg recovers from her eye surgery in her home on November 23rd, 2024. The surgery was meant to help with her chronic migraines and blocked vision which inhibited her surgical abilities. The surgery went well and cleared her blocked vision, but she is not yet sure of the impact on her migraines.
Dr. Weinberg scrubs into the operating room at Wilmington SurgCare on December 6th, 2024. She is preparing for her first surgery, a Elucent localized lumpectomy, since her own operation a week prior. After thoroughly walking me through the procedure she informs me that scrubbing in is “second nature for me, it’s a task as mindless as brushing my teeth now” she then half joked that if I touch anything in the operating room I would not be getting dinner that night.
Dr. Weinberg performs a lumpectomy alongside her Surgical scrub technician Missy in the Operating Room on December 6th, 2024. Weinberg says she has worked with Missy for over 3 years, and that the two now work as a “well-oiled machine” during routine surgical procedures.
